Soundscapes of Thailand is a project that I
(Daniel Ding)
created with my lover
(Jennifer Lee).
It's based on our dating-honeymoon trip in August of 2024.
Soundscapes explores the semi-permanence of memories.
With the ubiquity and accessibility to high quality video recordings, typically one captures memories by means of a visual recording.
Soundscapes challenges this notion of capturing 'truth' by limiting the visitor to just an audio recording of a memory,
and thus embracing the fallibility of our memory recollection.
Listening to these recordings, we may remember a memory differently from how it actually happened.
But isn't that beautiful, to have your mind romanticise and re-create a fond memory, over and over again?
